CHAOS BETWEEN FDC AND NUP COST A UNIVERSITY STUDENT LIFE.

Batungura Bewotti 27, a student of law at Uganda Christian University Kampala Campus and resident of Kikoni Zone B, Makerere 3 Parish Kawempe Division in Kampala was murdered during the last guild Presidential open campaigns at rugby grounds Makerere University on 14th/7/22.
It is alleged that during the campaigns a scuffle ensued between two Political party supporters that resulted in the stabbing of the deceased by students who were allegedly led by Hon. Kabuye Frank (NUP) among others. 
The fight was between the NUP and FDC Political factions. The NUP team led by Kabuye Frank turned violent after a disagreement, leading to the stabbing.
Police have arrested three people that sparked the chaos. These are; Opposition Youth Shadow Minister also legislator of Kasanda South Constituency Hon. Kabuye Frank who is detained at CPS Kampala, Ssekidde Allan currently detained at Wandegeya police station and Kabuurwa Muzafaru who is detained at old Kampala police station.

UGANDA TO DEPLOY 160 PEACEKEEPERS TO SOMALIA

Uganda is set to send 160 Police personnel to Somalia for peacekeeping operations. According to the Uganda Police Force, the officers have finished a six-months training, and will be deployed by December under the African Union Mission in Somalia. The officers are meant to provide public order management and protection of African Union personnel and facilities. The team is part of the formed police units within the African Union, which rotates on an annual basis. "In Somalia, the officers will provide public order management, protection of African Union (AU) personnel and facilities within means and capabilities, and Support police operations that require a formed response," police added.

URA clarifies the KACITA planned protest cause.

Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) said 125 containers are pending clearance for taxes, dismissing the figure the spokesperson of Kampala City Traders Association (KACITA) told the Saturday Vision. "The Saturday Vision on 28/08/2021 reported that 700 containers of textile/garments are stuck at URA, quoting the Spokesperson of KACITA. A figure that is far from the truth," Ian Rumanyika, the Authority's acting commissioner of public and corporate affairs, said in a Sunday statement. "We are in possession of 125 containers and so far, 9 have been cleared due to the new tax regime as pronounced by the Honorable Minister of Finance Planning and Economic Development." For the current financial year, the government raised the import duty rate of garments from 25% to 35% or a charge of $3.5 for every kilogram and for textile fabrics, it was increased to 35% or $3 per kg.
