FDC AND NUP DIVIDED ON WHO RUNS FOR PRESIDENCY IN THE FORTHCOMING 2026 ELECTIONS.

Opposition leaders recently signed an agreement to foster cooperation amongst themselves aimed at fielding a single opposition candidate for the 2026 presidential elections and other efforts geared towards ousting President Yoweri Museveni from power.

The agreement was signed during the joint opposition press conference held at Hotel Africana on 1st/August/2022 Monday afternoon which attracted leaders from change-seeking forces from the four political parties including Forum for Democratic Change- FDC, National Unity Platform- NUP, Justice Forum- JEEMA, People’s Progressive Party- PPP and People’s Front for Transition.

It however resulted to disagreements on who to rally for Presidency against either President Museveni or Muhoozi Kainerugaba who is rumored for 2026 elections since Robert Kyagulanyi is not willing to support Kiiza Besigye and the reverse is true.

Robert Kyagulanyi accuses Besigye for working with the NRM Government while as Besigye believes Bobi Wine is part of the NRM project after President Museveni declared zero opposition in the recently concluded elections.

"The Saturday Vision on 28/08/2021 reported that 700 containers of textile/garments are stuck at URA, quoting the Spokesperson of KACITA. A figure that is far from the truth," Ian Rumanyika, the Authority's acting commissioner of public and corporate affairs, said in a Sunday statement. "We are in possession of 125 containers and so far, 9 have been cleared due to the new tax regime as pronounced by the Honorable Minister of Finance Planning and Economic Development." For the current financial year, the government raised the import duty rate of garments from 25% to 35% or a charge of $3.5 for every kilogram and for textile fabrics, it was increased to 35% or $3 per kg.
