There is a saying that says; "What will swallow you is usually part of the nice garment you often want to put on. Everyone since the inception of NUP has always wondered why the NUP delegation Conference chose David Lewis Rubongoya as the Secretary General of the Party. Let's pause A bit, what if this was a state intended choice to ease its spy activities in the NUP party??
It's wise to know and intently perceive that a Secretary General in any political party has almost more powers than anyone else.
Family background
According to our trusted sources, Lewis Rubongoya is a Mubiito Munyoro whose parents shifted from Bunyoro to Mbarara District. His father was an ordinary veterinary doctor and the mother was an unlicensed teacher who stopped teaching at a young age. David Lewis is the fourth out of five children from the mother's side and the ninth on the father's side because the father had four other children from a different mother. The Father later on died in 1998, Lewis was in primary three by then.
Education Background
David Lewis attended Shalom Keren Nursery and primary where he was from nursery to primary three, when the father died in 1998 he joined Kanyareru primary school a rural school in Kiruhura district. After his primary he joined Lake Mburo senior secondary School where he got his Ordinary Level certificate. He joined Nganwa High School-Bushenyi in 2008 for his Advanced Certificate and later joined Makerere University on government sponsorship for a bachelors of law (LLB) in 2009. Upon completion of his University degree, he immediately joined Law Development (LDC) for a post graduate Diploma in legal matters- law as is always a requirement for any law graduate from any law lecturing University/ Institution.
David who was a street evangelist in Mbarara Town commonly sited along Makanisini Street and High street preaching venues during his Senior Six vacation. He immediately joined Harvard Law School one of the most expensive law schools in the world in 2014 and graduated with a masters in laws (LLM) in 2015. This was without pause was followed by a certificate of legal aspects of middle East from the Hebrews University of Jerusalem- Institute of law and policy in in 2015 and he recently graduated with Masters in International law and legal studies from Oxford University.

Career
Like it is very hard always for the fresh graduates today to get jobs due to the overwhelming number of graduates each year, this wasn't the case for Lewis Rubongoya. He started working from 2012-2014 before he even graduated from Makerere as a legal intern in the General Court Martial - Republic of Uganda where he interned with the prosecutor judge and the Defense Counsel and helped on drafting court orders, perusing court records and giving opinion on course of action. He was later appointed as a legal officer/ Commission Counsel of Equal Opportunities Commission a government Institution, this he did while also working as a lecturer at the International University of East Africa
Political Affiliation before NUP
David Lewis Rubongoya was an NRM diehard who got chance to meet and interact with all top NRM cadres including the Chairperson of the Party H.E Y.K Museveni. While hosted on NBS's Face-Off show David said, "I was a supporter of NRM and it was in my blood ", he never even hesitated to say that "I admired Museveni with all my heart and got a chance to be with him". One may wonder why such an NRM obsessed supporter would leave his party and follow Kyagulanyi for the funny reasons we shall see here under. Lewis was seen posing in photos with H.E Y.K Museveni, Gen. Elly Tumwine and other big government figures earlier before he met Kyagulanyi.
Encounter with Robert Kyagulanyi
When interviewed on BBS TV's famous programme called MUBUWUFU, Lewis said he met Kyagulanyi as his student at the East African University where he was lecturing constitutional history and constitutional law .When asked about the strength that pulled him to get closer to the then singer, Lewis gave reasons that could immediately call for an emergency meeting of the NUP delegation to discuss the termination of the tenure of his office. Here are the reasons;
He said to have been attracted to Kyagulanyi because he proved so respectful when he called him and told him that he was not coming for a lecture because he had a show.
Another reason he gave was his invitation to Busabala for the Kyalenga concert where he saw many people on the concert from different districts a sign that showed him that Kyagulanyi had support. It's critical therefore to synthesize if such reasons would make such learned legal expert leave his beloved NRM party and join a pressure group whose future was still questionable. According to sources from NUP Party, Lewis was very Naive in areas of politics though he is now learning on job.
How dangerous is David Lewis Rubongoya in NUP?
We have always asked ourselves why NUP has never succeeded in any of its plan and everyone ends up pointing at David Lewis Rubongoya and thus wonder why Kyagulanyi has remained that blind and myopic not to detect the actions of an enemy that seats with him on the same table. Take a close look at David Lewis, watch him closely when they are interviewing him the guy is a trained spy. He was one time asked why he knows Swahili and how he learnt it on BBS's MUBUWUFU but he declined giving a straight forward answer. If I was Kyagulanyi I would ask myself a question; what was a year three law student doing in an army court? In Uganda here they are even some ministers who even end their term without sitting on one table with the president but David Lewis was always with the president and army generals.
